$150,000 OTF Grant From Ontario Government Cements the Glengarry Curling Club’s Future

Maxville, ON – On Thursday, the Glengarry Curling Club celebrated a $150,000 Capital grant they received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) make much needed improvements to their building.

“As MPP for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, I’m excited that the Glengarry Curling Club received a $150,000 grant to enhance their ice surfaces with a new concrete pad. This investment will ensure my constituents enjoy top-quality curling and keep the Club thriving as a vital community hub for years to come,” said MPP Stéphane Sarrazin.

The OTF grant funded the installation of a new concrete pad to greatly improve the foundation of the Club’s three ice sheets. The previous foundation for the ice surfaces was sand-based and presented significant challenges for the start up and maintenance of the ice throughout the curling season. Thanks to the improved concrete pad, the Glengarry Curling Club will be able to operate year-round while also offering better quality ice for the enjoyment of curlers. Thanks to this investment by the Ontario Government through OTF, the Glengarry Curling Club will be able to continue serving the community for years to come.

“We are very grateful to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for this grant,” said Ben Rozon, President of the Glengarry Curling Club. “With the installation of the new concrete pad, the Club will not only save on operating costs, but will be able to offer a better playing surface to our members and draw new members to the wonderful sport of curling.”

The Glengarry Curling Club has served the community of Maxville since 1953. As one of the main recreational sports facilities in Maxville, the Curling Club is a staple in the community for physical activity in the winter months. For more information, visit their website at glengarry.ovca.com.

This funding will help ensure they remain at the heart of the community for decades to come.”
