Ontario Welcomes Over $1.9 Million Manufacturing Investment
Muskoka created several new good-paying jobs in Alfred, ON
Hawkesbury — The Ontario government supported an investment of $1,987,820 by Muskoka to boost local manufacturing and create several new good-paying jobs. As part of this investment, the government has provided Muskoka with $290,673 in funding through the Regional Development Program’s Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness
“Our government is building a strong Ontario and strengthening the economy by supporting key investments in communities like Alfred,” said MPP Stéphane Sarrazin. “Muskoka’s investment grew local manufacturing and created more good-paying jobs for workers and families in Alfred-Plantagenet.”
Muskoka is investing $1,987,820 to expand their facility with a semi-automatic assembly line, including collaborative robots and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) systems, to enhance production efficiency, capacity, and competitiveness, including exports to the United States, in addition to a 6,500 square foot factory extension and industry improvements.
“The AMIC grant was critical funding for Muskoka during the current market environment, enabling Muskoka to advance its vision of creating one of the most technologically advanced robotic cabinet manufacturing assembly departments in North America” said Luke Elias, President of Muskoka Cabinet. “Without this grant, it would have taken Muskoka much longer to develop the necessary technology and to construct the additional manufacturing space to house this department. Muskoka continues to forge ahead, increasing manufacturing efficiencies in Canada by integrating both automation and robotics maintaining its cutting-edge approach to cabinet production.”
Ontario is investing $150 million through its Regional Development Program to help manufacturers across the province grow while supporting distinct regional priorities. To date, Ontario has supported more than 110 projects through the program, leveraging more than $1.6 billion in new investments and helping to create over 3,000 jobs.
“Our government is proud to support local manufacturers across the province as they grow and create more good-paying jobs in their communities,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. “Investing in these types of community-building projects will help us continue to build Ontario and strengthen the economy. We thank Muskoka for making a significant impact in their community and for contributing to our province’s dynamic and growing manufacturing sector.”
