Provincial MPP Sarrazin Helps Ontario Build More Inclusive Communities

Over $22,000 investment in the Municipality of La Nation to support active living for people of all abilities

NEWS – November 13, 2024

St-Isidore – Provincial MPP Stéphane Sarrazin announced today a funding investment of over $22,000 for the Municipality of La Nation to improve accessibility and support people of all ages and abilities in the St-Isidore community.

“This investment will remove local barriers and allow the citizens of St-Isidore, regardless of their abilities, to live an active and independent life,” said Provincial MPP Stéphane Sarrazin. “We are seeing real results with grants for inclusive communities that are helping many people in our riding.”

The Inclusive Communities Grant Program provides funding of up to $60,000 for projects that help people of all ages and abilities lead healthy, active, and independent lives.

“Inclusive community grants eliminate barriers for people of all abilities,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “These grants help prevent social isolation and offer everyone new opportunities to stay active and healthy.”

Since the creation of the Inclusive Communities Grant Program in 2020, Ontario has awarded more than $5 million to support 107 projects that enhance inclusivity and accessibility across the province.

“Ensuring that our community is accessible to all residents is a priority that our municipality continues to work on diligently. This project was initially suggested by our Accessibility Advisory Committee, and thanks to the Inclusive Communities grant, we were able to bring it to life. The newly completed accessible trail at Marcel Legault Park is a testament to our commitment to inclusion, creating welcoming spaces that all citizens in our municipality can enjoy,” said Francis Brière, Mayor of La Nation.
