Casselman (Ontario),

The Municipality of Casselman receives over $5.6 million for improvements to its pumping plant. This funding will be used to increase the capacity of Casselman’s main wastewater pumping station. Planned work includes, among other things, a new electrical room, an additional pump, a bypass pipe, an upgraded alum pumping system, and a new 1,880-meter pressure pipe.

Expected outcomes

Once all the work is completed, the pumping station’s capacity will be doubled from 118 L/s to 236 L/s and will be able to serve approximately 1,844 new homes.

The Mayor of Casselman, Geneviève Lajoie, views the project positively:

“We are preparing for the needs of the next 25 years. It is encouraging to know that the provincial government, with its financial support, is backing us in our efforts to build more housing. I want to thank Stéphane Sarrazin for championing this project.”

On his part, the Member of Provincial Parliament for Glengarry–Prescott–Russell, Stéphane Sarrazin, emphasizes his government’s commitment to building additional housing.

“The Ford government recognizes that small municipalities like Casselman face challenges with their water and wastewater systems. By improving the network, we simultaneously enable municipalities to grow, particularly in terms of housing. This is our priority.”

The total cost of the project is estimated at $7,687,500, and the municipality must cover 23% of it, or just over $2 million.
