May Constituency Week

I got to spend the days of May 1st-5th in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell. Being your representative at Queen’s Park is a responsibility I take very seriously. When I can spend time in GPR, my biggest priority is always meeting with constituents and businesses to hear about the concerns and priorities of the riding. In this post I share a bit of what I got up to during my first constituency week in May.

IVACO

A visit to IVACO Rolling Mills in L’Orignal, Ontario. It was nice to meet with the administrators and discuss their success and challenges as a leader in the steel production. IVACO is one of the greenest steel producer in the world due to their technology and the Electricity produced by the province of Ontario.

Round Table

A virtual meeting with John Jordan (Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Long-Term Care) and the team from Minister Calandra’s office. Thanks to Amy Porteous (Maxville Manor), Eric Larocque (Prescott Russell Residence) and Benoit Marleau (St-Viateur Residence) for sharing their priorities and challenges as an establishment that offers long-term care.

Contak Team

I had a very nice meeting with Melanie Desjardins and the Contak team. Very interesting to learn more about their company and to be able to discuss what our government can do to help address the labor shortage.

Interlude House

I continued though my week of meetings with a meeting with Maison Interlude House to discuss their project to build a shelter for women victims of violence in Embrun, ON. The Maison Interlude House organization has been working on planning and fundraising for a halfway house for 5 years. I had the opportunity to participate in a meeting with members of the organization and other politicians to discuss a strategy to move the project forward.

Maxville Manor

Following the meeting with Maison Interlude House, I drove down to Maxville, ON to announce that the Maxville Manor Long-Term Care Home was receiving a $21,500 grant for specialized equipment for their residents.

25th anniversary CSDCEO

The week ended with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the CSDCEO at the Bonnie Glen in Alexandria. The Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien (CSDCEO) is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year! It is under the theme “25 years of smiles” that the CSDCEO invites its large family to celebrate, throughout this year, 25 years of Francophone pride, Catholic values and a tradition of excellence in education.
